Excellent service. From beggining til delivery. Awesome staff, Liz took my order patiently and jesus (delivery person) and of course cheff, delicious food. Thank you so much for such a great service and great delicious food.
Delicious food all around!!
Went with a girlfriend a few weeks ago and had a great experience. The owner was very sweet and kept the kitchen open a few extra mins past their normal hours to cater to us. We ordered the chicken breast, which was extra juicy and very flavorful. He brought us his AMAZING hummus and bread… just because he though we couldn’t leave without trying it… it was melt in your mouth good! I work a few blocks away and am sure ill be back soon for more!
The ambiance was nice and unique (an outdoor garden feel but you’re inside) with good music. Staff was helpful and nice.
I ordered the chicken kebob. Super juicy and filling. Flavor could have been a bit more intense. Boyfriend ordered steak wrap which he really enjoyed. And we both liked the homemade humus
The food is fantastic and the dine in atmosphere is unique.
Their dip trio is amazing, the wild salmon wrap is my favorite, I haven’t tried it but my friend swears by the steak wrap and the veggie wrap did not disappoint. Dining inside almost feels like being on the patio of a high end home.
My only complaint is their delivery service. They use a third party company and really should look into other options. The service took over an hour, they (3rd party co) couldn’t answer any questions about the delivery and kept saying they would call back and never did, when the food finally arrived everything was cold – I truly believe this is the fault of the company and not Laylas since my dine in and take out experiences have been amazing.
I’ll be back for sure.
Their menu is eclectic with some Middle Eastern fare thrown in for good measure.
My office’s solid work lunch place; we eat in and order in from this little joint regularly. Why? The food is good and fresh and cheap. Their menu is eclectic with some Middle Eastern fare thrown in for good measure.
I love the way they set up their dining room which, despite having four walls and a ceiling, seems always to be open and fresh; of course, it’s freezing when it’s cold outside but since this is LA, we rarely complain about that. They’ve got a HUGE wooden and glass swinging door that’s pretty neato. Beware that they probably have 30 seats or so at most, so it can get busy during the work week lunch rush.
I’ve tried just about everything here from pasta to salad to sandwiches to their lamb meatballs which are (yes, I’m gonna say it!) AMAZE-BALLS! It’s all just yummy in your tummy . . . and not too heavy which is good since we always have to schelp back to work.
Really good sandwiches and salads!
Really good sandwiches and salads! Went there for lunch with my mom and we both loved it. Very fresh and tasty.
I think that the food here is amazing!
The portions are not large, but not small. They’re what a human should be eating. All of the food that I’ve had is fresh and flavorful.
The atmospher in the restaurant is kind of a outdoor cafe but under a roof. Not a huge place but the food is all you will think about.
I’ve had their delivery and it was fast. So far I’ve tried the salmon wrap, the chicken kabob and lamb meatballs. Everything is great. The pita that they give is warm and the smell is mouth watering.
It’s a litle pricey but very yummy. Wine $9 a glass, my wrap was about $12.
I loved the place!
I loved the place, as soon as I walked in the atmosphere was so great. The staff were so friendly and not to mention how good the food was. I was working in the area, i was starving and wanted to pig out in the healthiest way possible and Layla’s Cafe was just perfect, hit the spot and I will deff be going back there soon.
We definitely cannot wait to go back here again.
went for dinner here on Friday 22nd Feb with my family, we ordered five different dishes including vegetable soup.
All the five dishes were delicious, all the food came out nice and hot.The soup was very hot and it tasted and looked home made. Our male waiter was attentive and he gave us great customer service. We loved the ambiance as well, We definitely cannot wait to go back here again.
Impressions from my first visit
Great ambience with dim but not too dark lighting, semi-outdoors decor with stones surrounding a brick-laden floor. Especially love the stone water fountain at the entrance.
The hummus was excellent! Silky smooth with just the right amount of garlic and seasoning. Not overpowering at all. The pita bread was soft, pillowy, and warm. Prefect! The veggies that came in the side of my chicken kabob dish were perfectly cooked crisp tender. You can tell the veggies were fresh that day and carefully chosen. No cutting corners even with the sides, it seemed.
We used a groupon and our server was super nice, attentive and helpful.
I enjoyed my meal and didn’t leave feeling as if I had just downed a greasy meal!
I have been wanting to try Layla ever since moving down the street and finally stopped by with a recent Groupon purchase!
The restaurant is dimly lit and you feel like you’re sitting in an enclosed back patio with heat lamps and large wooden doors. There are also a few TVs, so we were able to catch the Laker game during dinner! We ordered a red sangria, the popular chicken kabob and penne rustica, which were both recommended by our server as well.
The red sangria is only $5 and was by far my favorite part of the meal! It’s light and refreshing, with more of a punch taste than your typical heavier sangria. The chicken kabob was light and healthy, but not as tasty as other restaurants I have frequented. The penne rustica was my favorite entrée, served in a generous portion and lightly sauced. The penne probably could have been cooked a tad bit longer.
Overall, I enjoyed my meal and didn’t leave feeling as if I had just downed a greasy meal! I wouldn’t call it a spetacular experience, but definitely enjoyable!
My mother didn’t utter a single complaint about anything, only praise. Possibly first time that’s ever happened!
I brought my elderly parents and two teenage daughters, certain that everyone would be pleased with something from the menu…and we were!
My mother and father loved the chicken kebobs and were surprised with a complimentary bowl of hummus and pita. It’s wonderful to get unexpected and special treatment. My vegetarian pita sandwich was delicious with a generous portion of salad on the side. My only complaint: The salad dressing was way too salty as were the French fries. But overly salty food seems to be standard these days in restaurants, no?
The staff was warm, friendly, attentive and extremely patient with my parents who are not easy to please. In fact, my mother didn’t utter a single complaint about anything, only praise. Possibly first time that’s ever happened!
Great background music, enjoyed the patio seating with overhead heaters.
We will definitely be back.
My Wife Was Impressed
I went by Layla Cafe yesterday and took some food home after work. My wife is a good cook, but she was ecstatic when called her and said to take the night off because I was bringing dinner home.
I got 2 orders of chicken Kabobs and an order of pasta. The portion size was generous and the staff is friendly. The food stayed hot even though I had to drive almost an hour through traffic. When I got it home it tasted great.
The chicken had a nice subtle Mediterranean flavor. It just enhanced the taste of the chicken without overpowering it. My wife was impressed with the flavor too.
The only thing she didn’t like was when our son said the pasta tasted better than Moms. He is only 4 so what can you do. Anyway, it was a great experience so I decided to write this review. Hope you find it helpful.
Love love love!
Love love love! I’ve been driving by this place every day for maybe a year, and always wanted to try it. I can’t believe I haven’t tried it until now! They have a great special that includes three “small plates” and some wine. Totally worth it, and so much food for 2 people to share. Their “small” plates require quotation marks, because in my world, they should really be classified as entrees. The food was delicious and perfectly prepared, everyone we interacted with on the staff there was so nice and pleasant, the wine was good and well priced… this might be my new favorite place for a healthy dinner out…
I can’t get enough of Layla’s!
I can’t get enough of Layla’s! Great service, awesome ambiance and the food is delish! They have beer and wine now which is great and the owner said he’s adding Fat Tire (bonus!).
I would recommend it for a night out but also, if you work in the area – it’s great for take out. I asked for free delivery and they hooked me up!
